Career

Founder and Managing Director of the Spitthöver Engineering firm

Graduate Engineer Bernhard Spitthöver initially founded a civil engineering office without staff in 1972, in Essen-Heisingen.

The Dipl.-Ing. Bernhard Spitthöver GmbH developed into a medium-sized business, to which, after 10 years, was added a second office for structural planning in Duisburg. Since the spring of 2002, all sectors of the business have been amalgamated within the company headquarters at am Uhlenkrug.

With Graduate Engineer Bernhard Spitthöver's certification in 1996 as a Nationally recognised Expert in Fire Protection, the engineering company's service portfolio was expanded to include intelligent Fire Protection Concepts. Among other projects, the company has planned the fire protection measures in 23 railway stations across Germany: for example, that of the "Capital Railway Station" in Berlin. In the same year, 1996, Graduate Engineer Bernhard Spitthöver was elected VBI state chairman in North Rhine Westphalia, for the first time.

In addition to the traditional service areas of structural planning, construction physics (noise and heat prevention), project management and general planning, the company is currently also responsible for organising and holding architecture competitions.

In 2009, the Fire protection sales division was sold to the current share holders. The new company is still able to accomplish even more, even though Mr. Spitthöver is no longer directly involved.
