Based on the changing demographics of the community, the number of dependent members and the need for care facilities is ever increasing. The challenge of these buildings is the evacuation of the residence if a fire were to occur, especially with little staff. After the repeal of the KrankenhausbauVO in the end of 2009, the licensing authorities worked on Fire Protection guidelines for care facilities.
